Why is a subscription better than buying an e-bike?
Owning an e-bike means a high cost upfront, and you're responsible for arranging — and paying for — all your own repairs.
With PLUTO we remove the hassle. If your e-bike is stolen we can replace it within 48 hours so you're never without your ride (terms and conditions apply). Plus our PLUTO Happiness team means you're never left waiting for a response.
How does the PLUTO e-bike subscription work?
PLUTO is a flexible e-bike subscription. For a fixed weekly or monthly fee you get your e-bike, theft cover, servicing and rider support via chat, email and phone.
Can I do a test ride?
Absolutely! We host test rides at our facility in Reading (Berkshire). Just send us your details and we'll book you into our calendar.
What documents do I need?
Commuters (under 700 miles a month): photo ID (driving licence, passport, BRP etc.) and proof of current address (utility bill, rental agreement etc.).
Delivery riders: photo ID and proof of address (last 3 months' bank statement, utility bill, rental agreement etc.).
Your documents are only used for verification and are never shared with any outside party.
Can I choose a Step-through or a Crossbar?
Both models are 100% UK road legal, with the same BAFANG motor, hydraulic brakes, servicing and support. We allocate a Step-through or a Crossbar based on availability at the time your bike is prepared, so we can't guarantee a specific model.
Is there a minimum term?
It depends on your plan: the delivery plan has a 2-month minimum, commuter Basic is 3 months and Eco is 5 months. After the minimum, a 15-day notice period applies. Cancel from your account or email support@plutoebike.com and we'll arrange collection.
How much does it cost?
Delivery riders: one simple plan: £35/week for the first 2 months, then £29/week. Commuters: Eco £75/month, dropping to £59/month from month 6; Basic £85/month. A one-time £24.90 joining fee applies. Servicing, lock and theft cover are included in every plan.
Is there a deposit?
No — there's £0 deposit on every bike, for delivery riders and commuters alike. You only pay your first plan payment and the one-time £24.90 joining fee.
What happens if my e-bike is stolen?
Your bike has anti-theft technology and a gold-standard lock. If it's stolen, we can replace it within 48 hours so you're never without your ride (terms and conditions apply).
